Temporary Support Wall Distance

In the 1999 nec 1 a change was made to the temporary wiring.

Soundproofing is possible to a degree with sound batt insulation and an exterior door. These support walls laterally. I use a 2 10 for the top plate to spread the weight over a large enough area to avoid cracking the ceiling finish. If you want to install a beam in an existing bearing wall there are all sorts of tricks and methods. Adjustable steel columns also called lally columns or jack posts are the quickest and most effective way to add. There are two ways to accomplish this.

Shoring can be used when walls bulge out when walls crack due to unequal settlement of foundation and repairs are to be carried out to the cracked wall when an adjacent structure needs. These support walls laterally. Mark the bottom sole plate to indicate where the king studs and jack studs will go.
